Battle Of The Eagles:The Super Eagles Soar Above The Carthage Eagles

An Odion Ighalo strike in the 3rd minute was enough for Nigeria to seal a much expected 1-0 victory over Tunisia. Below are four things we learned from the game:

Tunisia’s Goalkeeping Problems
From Ben Mustapha to Mouez Hassen to Ben Cherifia, the value was the same. These goalkeepers have made at least one mistake which led to a goal.

A Not-So-Exciting Game
Fatigue? Both teams gave away possession quite easily. The tempo and intensity of the game were also very slow and low respectively.

Game Plan
Nigeria’s plan was definitely to get the early goal, retreat into a more defensive shape and wait to hit the Tunisians on the counter attack. After Nigeria went 1-0 up, they placed a lot of bodies behind the ball and surrendered possession to the Tunisians. Tunisia bossed possession but weren’t able to equalize.
