The ban on celebrities endorsing/advertising alcoholic beverages by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has not sat down well with a lot of celebrities including Wendy Shay, Shatta Wale, Edem, and Afia Schwarzenegger.
However, someone who thinks the ban is necessary is veteran musician, Gyedu Blay Ambolley.

According to Mr Ambolley, if those celebrities who have well functioning brains will not be against the ban.
“All those celebrities who have proper sense will not endorse alcohol because alcohol is not good.” he stated in an interview with MzGee on 3FM’s ShowBuzz.
Whilst taking his stance on the issue, Mr Ambolley reiterated the need to protect the youth at all cost, hence the ban on promoting alcoholic beverages, a necessity.
“Celebrities endorsing alcoholic beverages shouldn’t be allowed at all. Music and alcohol shouldn’t be allowed because it’ll be enticing the youth. If you look at music videos, it all features young boys and girls. Alcohol must not be in the system for the young boys and girls to feast on it,” he added.
Five years ago, the FDA put a ban on celebrities endorsing/advertising alcoholic beverages in adherence to a World Health Organization’s (WHO) policy and efforts to ensure that minors are protected from being lured into alcoholism.
The issue however became a hot topic this year after singer Wendy Shay lost out on a deal and took to social media to question the FDA about the ban. Her outburst started a series of backlash from other celebrities who have not been in support of the ban.
