Cristiano Ronaldo Is Yet To Score A Free-Kick For Juventus In 28 Attempts

There’s no doubt that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest players in the history of football.

700 goals, five Ballon d’Ors, league titles in England, Spain and Italy, five Champions League trophies and two major international wins.
The Portuguese superstar can do pretty much everything.

He can score all types of goal from 30-yard screamers with his weak foot to towering headers inside the penalty area. He’s not bad from the penalty spot, either.

However, there’s one aspect of Ronaldo’s game that still needs to be improved at the age of 34 thus his free-kick taking ability.

Ronaldo has scored 54 free-kicks during his career but his recent record at Juventus is quite amazing.

In fact, he still hasn’t scored a free-kick for the Italian club in 28 attempts.

He however scored from a set-piece during the pre-season in the International Champions Cup against Inter in the summer but that doesn’t actually count since it is not an official game.

Instead, it’s 28 attempts with no success in Juve colours after his two failed attempts against Lokomotiv Moscow just last Tuesday.

Nineteen of them have hit the wall – including his last nine.

Perhaps is it time for Ronaldo to step aside and give Miralem Pjanic a chance?

Pjanic has actually scored the seventh most freekicks in the history of the Serie A with 15.

But we know that Ronaldo will persist.
