For some reason it is obvious this year is going to be a bad season for the annual Ghana Music Awards. I mean it’s not like we’ve had it “milk and honey” over the years, but this year will totally suck for one of Ghana’s most prestigious awards schemes.
First of all as characteristic of any award scheme held in the country — the people are not happy with the nominees list that was recently released online. This time their reason is so much justifiable because most of the list is full of errors that needs to be attended to immediately.
It’s like chatter house was in a rush to release something to either put some people off or to satisfy a group of people.
EonlineGhana.Com has gathered that the VGMA board had almost a month to come up with the list being released today — and this could have been a contributory factor to the amount of errors on there.
Some critical issues raised about the list was the inclusion of Teephlow’s “The Warning” song featuring Sarkodie which does not fall under the year of review. Teephlow’s song was actually released in 23 April 2014 and for some reason it found itself under the hip hop song of the year category.
Again the VGMA list revealed that Akwaboah Jnr. produced Nicholas Omane Acheampong’s “Aporsor” but the fact is the song was actually produced by the dad, Kwadwo Akwaboah.
Atom who made a hit by jumping on Gasmilla’s already hit track “Telemo” was nominated for the most popular song of the year with “Ye wo krom”, but Gasmilla himself was snubbed.
