Controversial musician and current host of ‘Taxi Driver Show’ on Zylofon FM has questioned how any Ghanaian musician could dream of ever winning a Grammy when they invest very little in their craft.
His comment comes on the back of Nigerian musicians Wizkid and Burna Boy getting a nod at Grammy Awards 2021. Burna Boy and Wizkid both won awards at the 2021 Grammys.
Burna Boy won the Best Global Music Album category while Wizkid won the Best Music Video for his song with Beyoncé; Brown Skin Girl, from Lion King: The Gift album.
On his show, Monday evening; Blakk Rasta whose quizzed how anyone who’s serious about winning a Grammy Award could be successful with beats that cost GHC100.
According to him, such beats are not Grammy Awards standards and perhaps that is the reason why Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) award musician whose production costs even less
He said
“How can you win a Grammy with GHC100.00 beats ah well the VGMA can award you with GHC1.00 beats it’s there, that’s their standard”
Ghanaian music producer MOG Beatz weeks ago accused Shatta Wale of not paying him for his work on the Reign Album which was released three years ago. According to him, he produced 10 songs on the album but was never paid.
However, Shatta Wale in response disclosed that he paid MOG GHC100 each for the ten songs he produced on the album.
He said: “Now I want you to know I bought your beat for 100gh each ..so I have paid you long time and I thank God I didn’t waste money cuz all those songs sef no hit because of today …kwasiaaa”.
It’s obvious that Blakk Rasta’s shot was aimed at no other person than Shatta Wale and other musicians who are equally guilty of this.
