James Harden is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is a seven-time All-Star and a two-time NBA scoring champion. He was named the NBA Most Valuable Player in 2018.
Harden was born on August 26, 1989, in Los Angeles, California. He attended Artesia High School in Lakewood, California, where he was a standout basketball player. He was named California Mr. Basketball in 2007 and was a McDonald’s All-American in 2008.
Harden played college basketball at Arizona State University. He was named a consensus All-American in 2009 and 2010 and was the Pac-10 Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010. He declared for the NBA draft after his sophomore season and was selected third overall by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2009 NBA draft.
