Lauren Holiday is a former professional soccer player and the wife of NBA star Jrue Holiday. She is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and a two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion.
Lauren was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and grew up in the small town of Delran, New Jersey. She attended Rutgers University, where she was a four-year starter for the Scarlet Knights. She was a two-time All-American and was named Big East Offensive Player of the Year in 2006.
After college, Lauren was drafted by the Washington Freedom in the 2008 WPS Draft. She played for the Freedom for two seasons before being traded to the Boston Breakers in 2010. She then played for the Western New York Flash in 2011 and 2012.
In 2013, Lauren retired from professional soccer and married Jrue Holiday, who was then playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. The couple has two children, a daughter and a son.
Lauren is an advocate for women’s sports and has been involved in several initiatives to promote the game. She is a member of the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Board of Directors and is a spokesperson for the Women’s Sports Foundation.
Lauren is also an entrepreneur. She is the founder of the Lauren Holiday Foundation, which provides scholarships to young female athletes. She is also the co-founder of the Jrue and Lauren Holiday Fund, which provides financial assistance to families affected by medical emergencies.
Lauren is an inspiration to many young female athletes and is a role model for women everywhere. She is a champion for women’s sports and a leader in the fight for gender equality.
