Wrestling is a sport which is on the lips of many. The likes of the Undertaker, Roman Reigns, John Cena, Brock Lesnar and Hulk Hogan are but a few names who have made it through wrestling and are now household names.

And just like any other sport, the essence of a referee cannot be underscored. However, in the history of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), it hasn’t happened that a female African American has become a full-time referee.

Of course, there’s always a first time and when Aja Smith posted on her twitter feed that she has become the first full-time female African American to be approved as a referee for the WWE, the joy that ensued was understandable.

Aja Smith’s message is crystal clear…… irrespective of your skin color, do not allow anyone to devalue you. Just pursue excellence and in due course, your efforts will be crowned with success.

But wait….let’s get some glasses, pop some shampagne and celebrate our sister’s benchmark!
