Sean Hjelle is an American professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was drafted by the Giants in the second round of the 2018 MLB Draft.
Born on August 8, 1997, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Hjelle attended Eau Claire Memorial High School, where he was a three-sport athlete. He was a standout pitcher for the school’s baseball team, and was named the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association Player of the Year in 2016.
Hjelle was drafted by the Giants in the second round of the 2018 MLB Draft. He made his professional debut with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes of the Class A-Short Season Northwest League. In 2019, he was promoted to the San Jose Giants of the Class A-Advanced California League.
