Shatta Wale Announces He’ll No Longer Be Part Of Ghana Music Awards Scheme

Ghanaian Dancehall act Shatta Wale has made a major announcement which will see him “recuse” himself from any future nominations regarding the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Scheme.

This announcement comes in the wake of a recent brawl between himself and his music rival Stonebwoy at the just ended awards show.

However, the musician through a social media post has announced his intentions not to be part of the awards scheme going forward. He wrote

Upon sober reflections of events in recent times and having made broader consultations, I wish to announce that I will not be part of the Ghana Music Awards scheme going forward. God bless!

UPDATE ON THE VGMA 2019 COMMOTION

Shatta Wale is facing a charge of offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace while Stonebwoy has been charged with offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace and display of a firearm in public without permission.

The two were put before a court in Accra on Wednesday May 22. The court presided over by Magistrate Isaac Addo granted the two bail at a cost of GHc 50,000 with one surety each. Lawyers Jerry Avenyor and Selali Wonya represented Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy respectively.

The case has been adjourned to June 20, 2019.
