The MTN Shortz is an initiative which was launched in Ghana on the 8th of August, 2018. The MTN Shortz is a digital platform which enables content creators to earn money from creating a video content, typically 10 minutes long or less. The video content can include: comedy, animations, podcast, games, films as well as any video of educative value.
During the launch at the MTN House in Ridge-Accra, content creators were asked to send in their entries by using “Dropbox or We Transfer” to upload their videos and send the file link to [email protected].
To enter into the race for the cash awards, the video content ought to have being sent before 27th August, 2018. The submitted entries will then be reviewed by a panel and then the winners of the various categories will be selected and awarded accordingly.
Just as promised by MTN, the winners of the various categories were awarded in a short ceremony at the MTN House on the 6th of September, 2018. Naa Ashorkor, the host of the launch of the MTN Shortz also hosted the Award Ceremony.
The award ceremony started at 3:30 pm and had personalities such as Prince David Osei, YOLO Stars Cyril, Drogba and King George, Kafui Danku as well as bloggers and personnels from various media houses in attendance.
Bar the Overall Best Video which took home a sum of 15 000 cedis, the rest of the categories got a cash prize of 6000 cedis each.
Now, the awards!
In the best games category, “Mosquito Defence” emerged the best.
The winning podcast was adjuged to be “Don’t be shy”.
The best animation went to “Child Trafficking”.
“Audition” won the Most Funny Video Category.
“Respiration”, a street quiz by GHBuzz won the Most Trending on Social Media category.
“Lost” won the best short film category as well the Overall Best Video.
