"Love them or hate them, movies made in Kumasi otherwise known as Kumawood movies are the backbone of the Ghanaian movie industry -- and until there is a hostile takeover, they will continue to dominate the Ghanaian market. It is obviously the biggest movie industry in Ghana and one of the biggest in Africa.\r\n\r\n EonlineGhana.Com today gives you 10 reasons why most people are addicted to the movies from the Garden City, defying all the criticisms and backlash that they have received over the years.\r\n\r\n 1. The Best Actors Are From Kumawood \r\n\r\n \r\nBelieve it or not, most of the finest actors in Ghana are from Kumawood.\r\nThe industry nurtures raw talents into big stars who are admired by many.\r\nThe likes of Akrobeto, Nana Ama Mcbrown, Vivian Jill, Lil Win, Maame Serwaa and others -- and funny enough, unlike their counterparts who star in so called Glamour-type of movies, these Kumawood stars have little or no education but still play their roles with absolute perfection.\r\n \r\n 2. The Kumawood industry is very creative \r\n\r\n \r\nPeople love Kumawood movies because of the creativity they exhibit in every scene.\r\nEven though the technology which allows movie producers to create good visual effects is low, they still manage to do with the little knowledge they have and Ghanaians enjoy it. You may mock them for this but they are dominating the market which means someone out there is obviously enjoying it.\r\n \r\n 3. Their Movies Induce Laughter \r\n\r\n \r\nMost people buy Kumawood movies for one reason -- they want to laugh.\r\nActors like Akrobeto, Lil Win,Kyeiwaa, Kwaku Manu and others are loved by many for their ability\r\nto create humour. This is one of the reasons why we love Kumawood movies, they are just funny to watch.\r\n \r\n 4. Ghanaians can relate to it \r\n\r\n \r\nMind you, the Ghanaian population is dominated by people who have little or no education and therefore relate very well with Kumawood movies which are mostly played in Asante Twi (The Akan local dialect) .\r\nUnlike the other types of movies, Kumawood movies do well on the Ghanaian market and even with nationals\r\nin foreign countries because they can relate well with the language.\r\n \r\n 5. They Portray Our Culture \r\n\r\n \r\nTechnology may change but culture they say cannot be discarded -- and as such it feels great to remind ourselves\r\nof who we are (or who we were). Let me add that comparing that to our music industry which has suffered the adulteration of foreign genres such as RnB, hip hop etc. Kumawood movies do not follow the trend on the International market but rather stick to what they are good at -- thus standing the test of time. \r\n\r\n 7. They teach moral lessons \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nMost Kumawood movies are based on real life situations which teaches moral lessons. People learn a lot from these movies on how to relate well with others, how families can keep conducive homes and more.\r\n\r\nThere is virtually a Kumawood movie which will relate well with any mood or situation you'll find yourself in and for this reason we can't do without them. \r\n\r\n 8. Kumawood movies are made for Ghanaians \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nYes! whether you like it or not this is something we can all be proud of. At least the Ghanaian economy can proudly brag about one thing which is not owned by foreigners. It's a bit heartwarming to have this one thing we can call our own and that is the Kumawood movie industry. Let's give a big clap for our industry! \r\n\r\n 9. They serve as a source of employment \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe Kumawood industry employs the services of actors, sound engineers, producers, actors, wardrobe and even musicians -- which serves as their source of income. With the high rate of unemployment in the country, it is a relieve to know that there is an industry which still puts food on people's tables and we love them for that. \r\n\r\n 10. Kumawood Movies Are Fine Commodities For Export \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nMost of us love Indian movies for one reason -- we want to learn and know more about their culture.\r\n\r\nIt's for this same reason that people outside are curious to also know more about how Ghanaians live, their culture and believes. There is no better way to put ourselves out there than through Kumawood movies..
