There have been concerns raised as to whether self-acclaimed dancehall king, Shatta Wale is still doing dancehall or not.

To some people, he is now doing Afrobeats, while others claim he is doing ‘Jama’.

They claim songs like Kakai, Mahama Paper, Zenabu, Chop Kiss can never and ever be referred to as dancehall songs.

Shatta Wale has finally revealed on Pluzz FM that he is forced to reduce the number of dancehall songs he releases in Ghana because they don’t become hit songs, and that Ghanaians don’t relate well to the songs.

He said, “I’ve stopped doing real dancehall songs because Ghanaians don’t relate well to the Jamaican style.”

He continued, “All my serious dancehall songs did not hit in Ghana because people can’t relate well to them. That’s why ‘Kakai’ became instant hit because people can relate well to it here in Ghana. I nowadays make lyrics so simple so that any normal Ghanaian can understand thereby relating well to the lyrics,” he explained.
