The flagbearer for the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) Akua Donkor has petitioned the Supreme Court to discard any petition brought before it by John Dramani Mahama and his National Democratic Congress (NDC), regarding any dispute about the 2020 presidential polls. The outspoken Akua Donkor is of the view that NDC and its flagbearer had acted ‘mischievously’ to discredit a rather transparent election conducted on December 7.
In her petition dated 29 December 2020, Akua Donkor argued that the results as declared by the Electoral Commission was flawless and does recognizes President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the winner of the polls. He added there is nothing contentious about the results, a reason the court should not grant the NDC any hearing on the any petition.
She noted that the Chairperson of the Commission, Jean Mensah was candid with the figures used in declaring President Nana Addo as the President-elect. She mentioned that the NDC had since the declaration acted in a manner to mislead Ghanaians into believing the Electoral Commission rigged the election against their candidate, John Mahama.
“I am therefore by this letter appealing to your good office to ignore and cancel the case brought before you by John Dramani Mahama and the NDC party because is never true that Mrs. Jean Mensah stole votes for Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and all efforts made by Mrs. Jean Mensah on the declaration is true and clear but the NDC party is just throwing stones in the yes of Ghanaians.
“…it was clear to all Ghanaians on the television that His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had 50.1 + and John Dramani Mahama had 47.1+ which shows the clear winner,” Akua Donkor noted.
