Ghana’s very own Richard Commey took to the ever popular boxing arena, The Madison Square Garden to defend his IBF lightweight title against a younger Teofimo Lopez.
Commey, 32 was being challenged by Lopez, 22. Was Commey’s experience going to be enough to see him get past Lopez’s energy and youthfulness?
Prior to the fight, Commey boasted of a record of 29 wins (26 via knockout) and 2 losses whereas Lopez’s stood at 14 wins (11 via knockout) and 0 losses.
However, on the night Lopez’s speed and energy coupled with Commey’s poor boxing strategy ensured that the latter lost his title.
And it wasn’t even a contest! Two rounds was all it took for Lopez to unseat Commey to become the new IBF Lightweight Champion!
