Wood was born in Los Angeles, California in 1961. She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1983 and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern California in 1985.
Wood began her career as an analyst at Capital Group, where she worked for seven years. She then moved to Alliance Capital Management, where she served as a portfolio manager and director of research. In 1995, she founded ARK Investment Management.
