The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has suspended his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region following the demise of Former President Jerry John Rawlings. He had on Tuesday, November 10, begun his campaign tour of the Ashanti region which was expected to last for 5 days.
Mr Mahama announced this on Twitter.
“I have announced the suspension of my tour of the Ashanti Region and all NDC campaigns across the country, following news of the passing of our Founder and former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings. May his soul Rest In Peace,” he wrote.
Former President Rawlings reportedly died on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, after battling ill-health over the past few weeks.
