The facility was to be used as an isolation center in order to help fight off the corona virus.

However, the kind gesture created a lot of hullaballoo due to fear of the virus and probably, poor education of the inhabitants of the area on how the health directorate intended to attend to infected covid-19 patients without putting others in the area at risk of contracting the virus.

The resulting factor was that Bishop Gideon Titi-Ofei’s neighbors kicked against the facility and that has led to the Bishop rescinding his offer of giving the 100-bed facility which was to serve as an isolation center.

In a statement, Bishop Gideon asserted that he respects the rights of his neighbours to express their concerns in any way they deemed fit though he was expecting his neighbours to have reached out to the Tema West Public Health Directorate for advice and information on the potential threat to be faced if the facility is used as an isolation center.

That notwithstanding, Bishop Gideon, in the spirit of good neighborliness said he has decided to offer other forms of assistance to help fight the corona virus hence annulling his earlier form of support.
