“Show me a man that is diligent in his business. He will stand before kings and not mean men”, says the good book of Proverbs. According to the Daily Mail, Okyere moved to London with the aim of becoming one of the city’s most sought after hairdressers.
His dream soon became reality when Nigerian and Everton striker Yakubu Ayigbeni paid him a visit in his barbering shop, Slick Rick in South London. He didn’t dazzle to deceive as he made an indelible impression on Yakubu.
From then on, word spread about his skill with the barbering machine. His name sky-rocketed and the likes of Christian Benteke, Divock Origi, Jordan Ibe, Danny Wellbeck, Patrick Van Aanholt, Wilfred Zaha, Bakary Sako Emmanuel Adebayor, Serge Aurier, Mario Balotelli even Avram Grant and a host of others started trooping to his shop for their haircuts. Okyere was so good that these Premier League stars started inviting him into their homes when they needed to have a haircut.
In fact, Okyere’s dedication to his work earned him a spot at Mario Balotelli’s birthday party as the only non-footballer in attendance.
Okyere’s success secrets includes building an excellent relationship with his clients, maintaining a high level of hygiene and instilling creativity into the art.
His trademark slogan is “breaking the rules and changing the game”. He challenges his fellow barbers to be innovative in their work and commit themselves totally to it and not look down upon themselves.
