Shane McClanahan is an American professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was drafted by the Rays in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft.
McClanahan was born on October 11, 1997 in Bradenton, Florida. He attended Lakewood Ranch High School, where he was a three-sport athlete in baseball, basketball, and football. He was named the Florida Gatorade Player of the Year in 2016.
McClanahan attended the University of South Florida, where he played college baseball for the Bulls. In 2018, he was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year. He was also named a First Team All-American by Baseball America and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
