The ever controversial and outspoken dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has been crowned the Artiste of the Year at the 2019 Ghana Music Awards UK (GMAs UK).
Shatta Wale fought off competition from his longstanding rival, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie,Medikal, Kuami Eugene, KiDi, and King Promise to win the ultimate prize of the night.
Shatta Wale was also crowned the Dancehall Artiste of the Year.
Wale’s hit song, “My Level” emerged the Most Popular Song of The Year.
The three awards Shatta Wale won meant that he became the biggest winner at the Ghana Music UK Awards which was held at the Discovery Centre in London on Saturday, October 5, 2019.
The recently crowned King of Highlife, Kuami Eugene also took home the Highlife Artiste and Highlife Song of the Year awards.
Sarkodie won the Video of the Year award with “Can’t Let Go” while his song with King Promise, titled CCTV won the best collaboration.
Conspicuously missing from the list of award winners was Stonebwoy.
