Empire FM’s sports Journalist Kojo Darko Sakyi-Gyinae was lucky to have left the Sekondi sports stadium unscathed after policemen and colleague media men prevented Black Stars shot stopper, Fatau Dauda from assaulting him at post match presser. The Takoradi based journalist asked the Ashgold goalie, ’you are rusty, you were bad today, do you agree or disagree?’. The question appears to have not gone down well with the goalkeeper who performed below par in Ashantigold SC’s 1-1 draw with Kumasi Asante kotoko in the First Trust G6 preseason tourney. Angrily reacting and making threatening gestures at the journalist, Fatau Dauda replied, ’Are you a spectator or a Journalist? I don’t expect you to ask me such question.Villager!’ The 30 year old then attempted leaving his seat to physically assault the journalist but was restrained by the Police, press conference coordinator and some media men. Ashantigold Head coach Bashiru Hayford who was at the presser opted to answer the question for him. ‘I’m training him, I know his standard. Saying he is rusty is too strong for him. He is not rusty. He did whatever he could as a goalkeeper. When you are standing in the poles and the ball is not coming, I don’t think you will be jumping and catching air.’ ‘It is when the ball comes that he will catch it. So once you didn’t see him catching air, it doesn’t mean he is rusty. The question is too strong for him; I will not allow him to answer’ Fatau Dauda was then escorted out of the press conference by Policemen on duty as the journalist watched on.
