This will definitely not go down well with contemporary musicians. Gospel musician Edward Akwasi Boateng has termed music genres outside Gospel music, satanic. According to the popular musician, those songs are projecting the devil’s message.

Speaking in an interview with Top FM, the artiste said that songs by Sarkodie, and other contemporary artistes are worldly, hence of Satan. When asked why most Gospel veterans don’t assist or collaborate with new generation of stars as the other genres do, he replied it was due to the huge distinction between the two genres. His words:

There is a clear distinction between songs by Sarkodie, others and gospel music: they sing about worldly things ‘Satan’ and we (Gospel Singers) sing about Christ.

Also during the interview, he debunked claims that other music genres has overshadowed gospel music. He explained that gospel music is still very much alive and has come to stay. He also pointed out that though most Gospel artists sing Christian music, not all are real gospel musicians.

Shedding light on his claims, the ‘makoma so adea’ singer explained that being a gospel musician takes the grace of God, and that only a few are opportune to witness such. He explained that some of the gospel musicians do what they do, only for the money involved and not the message they are expected to pass across.

Speaking on charging fees for shows, the gospel minister also pointed out that it is not right for a gospel musician to charge people for shows and the likes. He however said that gifts and tokens can be accepted.

Edward Akwasi Boateng is a veteran gospel musician who has touched a lot of people through his very many inspirational songs.
