Last season, Liverpool’s path to Champions League glory was nothing short of awe inspiring and it brought back memories of the famous “Miracle of Instanbul”.
This was however, “The Redemption At Anfield”. After suffering a 3-0 loss at the Camp Nou wherein Lionel Messi scored twice, all thought that it was the end of Liverpool’s Champions League campaign.
Liverpool had other answers! and put up a magnificent performance that will never be forgotten.
Divock Origi netted within 10 minutes of the first half to reduce the deficit to 2 goals.
After the recess, substitute Gini Wijnaldum scored twice in the space of 5 minutes to bring the aggregate score level……and then a lapse in concentration from Barcelona’s players allowed Divock Origi to score the last goal and seal a historic 4-0 victory over the Catalan Giants.
Liverpool later on defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the final of the Champions League, ending the season on a high.
