“What Is That?” – Reactions To The Newly Created Ministerial Portfolio

Reshuffle, reshuffle, reshuffle…….

Most Ghanaians were harnessing the hope that President Akuffo Addo would trim down the number of ministers in his government. This was not to be the case as the president rather added a new ministry, increasing the number of ministers in the nation to 111 from the previous 110.

The new ministry? The Minister of State at the office of the Vice President. Hilarious, isn’t it?

In reaction, ace journalist, Nana Aba Anamoah tweeted, “Minister of state at the office of the Vice President. What is that?” As if that was not enough, she downplayed the relevance of the newly created ministry by asking, “What does the President need a Minister of State in his office for?”

Citi FM’s Eugenia Tenkorang also tweeted, “Minister of State at the office of the Vice President. Me thinks @Nana Addo wants to give some people jobs by all means.”

Isaac Opeele Boateng in explaining the duty of this new ministerial portfolio said, “It is nothing…..u only go and sit at the office, walk around or run errands for the Vice President…it used to be same role during Mahama’s time”.

Per Opeele’s response, we are wondering if ex-President John Mahama ever had such a ministry during his tenure.
