The Ministry of Youth and Sports has announced that they have found the famous “Abdallah Salem Trophy” which Ghana won for keeps.

This is the famous AFCON trouphy Ghana hosted and won for keeps in 1978 to become the first country to win it for keeps.

Prior to this famous triumph, Ghana had won the cup earlier in 1963 in Ghana, 1978 in Tunisia and later 1982 in Libya. pic.twitter.com/gwvZM93u4h

This happens to be the last time the Black Stars won the Cup

The Cup known as the 'Abdelaziz Abdallah Salem Trouphy will be among the many trophies that are scheduled to be exhibited at the Nat. Sports Museum when it's established as part of the 2023 African Games in Ghana.

According to Saddick Adams, the trophy was said to have been “missing” when he went looking for it in 2016 for a documentary.

According to the ace sports journalist, the trophy was believed to have been stolen during the 1978 coup wen a lot of government offices were looted.
