Filmmakers in Africa are often tight-lipped about how much money or numbers their movies raked at the cinema.

In Ghana, the situation is not different either as it is hard to estimate how much tickets were sold during a movie premier or rank the best performing movies in the year.

However, we’ve gotten a figure which gives as an idea as to how our movies are performing in an industry where foreign movies are favored over our local productions.

In 2018, Venus films-produced movie Getting Married starring Jackie Appiah, John Dumelo, Lydia Forson and a tall list of other silver screen superstars was the most watched African Movie according Watch & Dine Cinema.

The movie sold over 1800 tickets, placing it fourth behind Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Aquaman.

We hope we could get more data to compare and rank our Ghanaian movies to make the industry more competitive and interesting.
