Ghanaians Blast NDC’s Atubiga For ‘Stupid’ Comment on Rawlings’ Death

Ghanaians have descended heavily on Stephen Atubiga, a member of the opposition NDC, for his unfortunate comments over the death of former President, Jerry John Rawlings.

The family of the late Ex-President and Founder of the NDC, on Thursday, November 12 visited President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House to officially inform him about the demise of their beloved Rawlings.

But Atubiga, in a Facebook post on Friday, November 12, 2020, criticized the family over their visit to the President stressing due protocol was not followed. According to him, the family should have first informed the NDC because he is their founder.

He wrote

His post suggested that J.J Rawlings belongs to the NDC party and not the state and therefore they should have been informed first of his demise. He again threatened that the NDC party will go ahead and organize their own funeral for their leader if they leave the matter in the hands of the state.

Atubiga’s comments has been questioned by some social media users who are berating him.
