Yesterday, the world was greeted with the death of American congressman and civil rights leader, John Lewis. He died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 80. Prior to his death, he was the U.S representative for Georgia’s 5th congressional district and the dean of the Georgia Congressional Delegation.
Having heard of his death, President Nana Addo sent a message of condolence to the family of John Lewis.
However, the message has been met with fury from some Ghanaians who felt that the President is intentionally ignoring the death of his citizens whiles courting global attention by commiserating with foreigners who have died miles away from Ghana.
This was on the backdrop of President Nana Addo’s failure to send messages of condolence to the families of the Tadi girls, those who have lost their lives as a result of the ongoing voter registration, students who have died as a result of the contraction of the corona virus as a result of the reopening of schools.
Below are some comments from the Facebook users who reponded to H.E Nana Addo’s message of condolence to the family of John Lewis.
