A lot of people were astonished when Shatta Wale’s hit song, ‘My Level’ won the Highlife Song of the Year during the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards held at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC).
During an interview with Metro TV’s Paul Adom Otchere on the subject on Good Evening Ghana, Shatta Wale confirmed that indeed the song is a Highlife song and that the organizers of
VGMA didn’t err.
He further explained that the beat of the song has a Highlife vibe and that even the rhythm was also Highlife.
The multi-talented artiste also used the moment to aim some digs at his colleagues in the music industry whom he described as not being serious enough.
He said, “I’ve taken music seriously so when I see some artistes pretending that life is good for them, it makes me feel pain. Osibisa was one of the successful groups globally. When it comes to my colleagues, we have not taken music serious,” he said.
