Over 17,000 people have signed a petition drawn up by Ghana’s Creative Industry calling on the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to pardon Rosemond Brown.

The petition which was created barely 24 hours ago on Change.org continues to grow and gain momentum, attracting attention in the process. At the time of writing, it has racked up over 17,000 signatures out of its targeted 25,000.

Rosemond Brown popularly known as Akuapem Poloo was on Friday, April 16, 2021, jailed for 90 days by an Accra circuit court following her conviction on charges of publication of obscene material and domestic violence.

In the petition, the group emphasized that the image that surfaced months ago had a creative license and as such cannot be deemed a criminal matter.

The petition reads;

Over the last week, images resurfaced of the artist Akuapem Poloo popularly known as Akuapem Poloo and her six-year-old son.

The image is one of creative license and is not a criminal matter. We the creative industry of Ghana are appalled at the judicial system’s decision to jail Miss Poloo.

We are calling on the president of the 4th Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to pardon this young single mother who can be blamed for perhaps poor judgement but in no shape or form deserves incarceration.
