The Black Stars of Ghana secured qualification to the one-sixteenth stage of the ongoing AFCON after securing a 2-0 victory over Guinea Bissau. Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey scored in the second half.
Ghana’s last AFCON victory was in 1982 and since then, there has been fraustrating final defeats to Egypt in 2010 and Ivory Coast in 2015.
President Nana Addo has encouraged The Stars to come home with The Trophy. Via a tweet, he also congratulated the team for their hard fought victory.
