A retired lecturer writing under the pseudonym, Kwem Gyen-Penyin, will on 24th September 2021, release of his highly-awaited, serialised book, “BRAIDED TABOOS.” The collection of short stories which cover exploitative themes that focus such as relationships, coming of age jaunts, teenage sexual debut and many social norms that have been secretly disobeyed.
The book has twelve short stories which are averagely 25 pages long. The book will be released on ReaderApp and later on selected online and offline stores. The first short story that will be released on 24th September 2021 is called, “MAKE THE FOOL JEALOUS ENOUGH TO KILL.”
It follows a school-going age anti-hero, Maafia, who endures an amorous affair with her aunt’s husband, and later breaks up their family, sleeps with her cousin and aunt’s son leading to his tragic murder.
The novel is set on one of Ghana’s prestigious universities and the story almost feels confessionary in nature. At the end, the anti-hero gives birth and despite not knowing who the child is for, is very much convinced that it is for Owula, the murdered son of the Vice Chancellor’s favourite driver.
