
Argentine midfielder Mascherano has announced his retirement from the Argentine national team few minutes after that epic and absorbing World Cup last-16 defeat to France.
The 34-year-old is the most capped Argentine player with 147 caps. He made his debut 15 years ago in 2003 against Uruguay in a friendly match and has since been indispensable to the Argentines.
