Ghanaians have been livid over the possibility of the construction of a new parliamentary chamber at an estimated cost of $200million.
Of course, the decision is as absurd as the proverbial bat which is always hanging up but looking downwards.
And as expected, our celebrities haven’t kept mute on the issue. They have vehemently opposed the decision. Let’s look at the opinions of some of them on the issue:
John Dumelo
In a series of tweets, he stated multiple alternatives on what to use the $200million for.
$200m can completely refurbish Korle-bu and even build more hospitals so Ghanaians stop dying from lack of oxygen, beds, drugs etc. We are pleading with parliament not to build that chamber now. #DropThatChamber

$200m can can build 10 factories to employ 10,000 youth. We the youth are pleading with parliament. Yes it’s necessary but pls don’t build that chamber now. #DropThatChamber

Lydia Forson
She admonished the people of Ghana to keep on “fighting” to ensure that the chamber isn’t built.
Dear People of Ghana,
You’re not just making noise on social media, you’re reaching people and places you can only imagine.
Trust me, those that matter are reading, watching and listening- so continue to scream and shout here if that’s all you can do. #dropthechamber

Yvonne Nelson
In a simple statement, she described Ghana as a nation whose priorities are misplaced.
Our Ghana today! Misplaced priorities!

DKB
DKB chastised the government for failing to create employment yet, prioritizing the building of a parliamentary chamber.

Instead of investing here to create employment U want wastage,Nonsense like this is why I chose comedy even tho I did BSc Agric in Legon.
