With a new year will come a new wave of musical hype. Join US as we count down our picks for the Top 10 Anticipated Albums of 2016.
For this list, we’re focusing on albums that have either been confirmed for a 2016 release or have been teased in recent pop culture conversation.
#10: Red Hot Chili Peppers
Expected to be released by mid-year, the 11th Chili Peppers album will apparently have a more gritty aesthetic, with Danger Mouse taking over the control deck in place of long-time producer Rick Rubin. Given the resume of the new collaborator, we can probably expect Anthony Kiedis and company to once again re-invent themselves with a timely sound. And with most of the members still relatively young-looking and certainly youthful in spirit, the new production seems destined to become yet another classic blend of the old and new. Considering their last album was released in 2011, the new one’s certainly been a long time coming.
