The 2017 Golden Movie Awards came off yesterday,22 July at the Movenpick Ambassador hotel. The show which was hosted by ace comedian AY Makun and American-Nigerian actress Osas Ajigbade saw musical performances from singer Nana Yaa and rapper Joey B.

The red carpet where the slay Queens and Kings live was however hosted by Uti Nwachuku and Victoria Michaels.

This year, movies from Kumasi otherwise known as Kumawood were snubbed and according to organizers, the movies which were submitted didn’t meet their criteria.

The Ghanaian movies again on the night of the event failed to impress as foreign movies such as Lotanna and Samba picked most of the awards.

For these reasons, Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson who feels our local content has been snubbed is not happy with the outcome on the night and she is not taking it lightly on twitter.

The award winning actress in a series of tweets poured out her rants and also called out slay queens for paying less attention to the industry.

According to the actress, the industry has so lost it’s way and they can’t even see it — they’re all going in that direction, dressing up to be posted on social media.

She however advised that they should put in the same energy to bring back the dead industry rather than slaying on carpets.
